Superman has been entertaining kids since he was created in 1932 by American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian/American artist Joe Shuster as a comic character published in Detective Comics and later in DC Comics. The character Superman also appeared in other media (radio, TV and film) as well as a daily newspaper comic strip launched in January of 1939. There were seventeen shorts produced between 1941 and 1943 and kids got their first real look at the superhero on screen. The television series the Adventures of Superman in 1951 was when American kids really fell in love with the man of steel. |
